ACCOUNT DIRECTOR

The Account Director reports to the Managing Director and / or the Client Services Director and is responsible for leading and managing large accounts and team members managing smaller accounts:

  • To drive organic business development for each allocated account to meet/exceed agreed revenue (fee) targets
  • To provide expert input for the development of strategic medical communication plans and their tactical implementation
  • To develop mutually beneficial business relationships with key client stake holders
  • To ensure accurate and timely financial planning and reporting
  • To deliver effective team leadership:
    • Delivering the highest quality of client service as measured by client delight
    • Providing expert client services guidance to all departments within the agency
    • Overseeing, and if appropriate implement, training based upon personal development plans
    • Managing the overall resourcing and work allocation for the team including recruitment

Essential Functions

  • Leadership of Account/Account Teams:
    • Drive organic growth
    • Lead allocated accounts to ensure all accounts deliver excellence in client service
    • Drives continuous improvement on an account level in terms of client services and project management delivery
    • Responsible for setting the standards of quality for the outputs of the allocated accounts team
    • Work with scientific services lead to ensure that all projects are profitable and project milestones are met
    • Lead the financial forecasting approach ensuring that forecasts are accurate and provided in a timely fashion to finance department and agency leadership
    • Help the members to prioritize their work in order to ensure company objectives are met
    • Ensure that all team members have current and meaningful objectives which are regularly reviewed to ensure their personal development
    • Develop plan to develop the team to meet the current and future needs of the business
    • Develop and (upon approval) recruitment plan based upon the current and future needs of the business
    • Ensures 100% compliance with AlphaBioCom and client standard client services procedures, including ethical standards
    • Performs other tasks as delegated by the managing director

  • Demonstrated skills to lead a large, highly qualified team
  • Understanding and ability to apply
    • Drug development process
    • Differential clinical benefits of each product responsible for
    • Development process of strategic medical communication plan and associated tactics including:
      • Publication plan
      • Gap analysis
      • Lexicon
      • Publication tactics
      • Medical affairs tactics
    • Minimum of 5 years’ of client services team leadership
    • Minimum of 5 years’ of man management experience
    • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in science in business related subject
    • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in client services for a medical communications agency
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal and leadership skills, ability to plan/organize and multitask

Physical Demands

  • Works effectively in an open floor plan
  • Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)
  • Keyboard use (greater or equal to 50% of the work day)
